POLITICAL PIGGY LINKS

I have to say, I don't know why there isn't more righteous anger over the fact that self-described clown and gold shill Glenn Beck would even consider holding a rally on the anniversary of Martin Luther King Jr.'s "I Have A Dream" speech. At the same location, no less. There is a bizarre effort on the part of conservatives to rewrite history in terms of the civil rights movement, in that they are trying to claim the movement for themselves! Honestly, if I were to spend too much time thinking about this, I'd give myself a brain aneurysm. I don't want to die, so perhaps I should just shift my focus to other matters for the time being:

Embattled Congressman Charlie Rangel has a strong response for President Obama with regard to his political future

Are background checks just another form of discrimination?

A NYC Muslim cabbie was stabbed by a passenger after being asked what his religious beliefs were

Shirley Sherrod channels Tyra Banks and tells the USDA to kiss her fat black ass!

"I WANNA HIT OBAMA"

In the aftermath of the Shirley Sherrod firestorm and the current developments with regards to immigration, some people are saying they're suffering from "race fatigue". But let's face it. In the Age of Obama, apparently race matters more than ever. It's on the front burner, out in the open and in the case, unabashedly so.

WAL-MART: STREETS IS WATCHING

Okay, so you're an African American customer from South Jersey (Turnersville), gleaning the aisles of your local Walmart for some choice bargains. Yeah, yeah, you've heard all about the controversial and questionable business practices of said corporate behemoth, but hey, that 8-roll bargain price for toilet tissue ain't nothing to sneeze at. And with the economy being what it is, hell, even Targét's prices make a brother's wallet start wheezing. After a brief standoff in the housewares section (you saw those $3 cups first!), you're triumphantly marching your cart-o-bargains to the checkout line when you hear this message over the PA system, "Attention Walmart shoppers. All black people leave the store now".

Your first thought is, "Oh, hell naw - did they just?....No, I KNOW I didn't hear - Wait, hold up, hold up, hold the fuck up!" Your second thought is, "Now I'm not about to give up these bargains (I fought hard for these cups!), so somebody better start explaining!" Your third thought is to connect with another black customer so you can confirm that it wasn't just you that heard that announcement. Umm-hmm. They heard it too. Now you're standing there, indignant, incredulous, and more than a little embarassed. Was it a joke? It had to be, right? Was there a fight? Did somebody black hurt somebody white? Is this about the $3 cups?

As it turns out, a man used the PA system to make an announcement. Ha, funny. Store officials are examing the security tapes. See, you just know it couldn't have been someone who actually worked there. Because if that was the case, then somebody is getting their ass sued off.

And I'm with you all the way. Either way.

SOMETHING TO THINK ABOUT, SON: YOUR SAGGIN' ASS

I'll leave this up to you to discuss and I'll try not to rant, but truthfully, if you're past the age of 21 and you're still rocking this style, then why be surprised when this is the reaction you get from the so-called powers that be? Is it live, or is it Memorex? Are we being unfairly profiled? Or is it just a case of, in the words of Nippy, it's not right, but it's okay? Besides, what's the point of showcasin' your ground round to the public, playa?

WHITE MAN BEATS UP BLACK WOMAN AT CRACKER BARREL

Talk about coincidence. Earlier, I posted an item about former president Jimmy Carter and his feelings on the racial climate in politics. Among his remarks were his experiences growing up in Georgia, particularly as they pertained to racism. And now we have one Troy Dale, who upon exiting a Cracker Barrel restaurant(no f-ing joke!) in Morrow, GA, almost hit a child with the door. The woman, Tasha Hill, who was entering the restaurant with the child, calmly asked that he be more careful. He then proceeded to beat the woman down with his fists and feet while her 7 year-old child watched, calling her a "nigger bitch" in the process. The police are investigating the incident as a possible hate crime.

On the flip, Rush Limbaugh is attempting to fan the flames of racial hatred by insisting that a recent fight on a school bus in which a group of black kids beat up a white kid was motivated by President Obama's vision of America. It turns out the fight wasn't racially motivated as both white and black kids cheered the group on, but rather was over a choice of seating.

I have no further words for this.

FORMER PRESIDENT JIMMY CARTER ON RACISM AND PRESIDENT OBAMA

Visit msnbc.com for Breaking News, World News, and News about the Economy

During an interview with Brian Williams of NBC Nightly News, former president and humanitarian Jimmy Carter adressed the elephant in the room and said that he believes U.S. Rep. Joe Wilson's (read more about Joe here) outburst during President Obama's speech on healthcare was rooted in racism. This issue has been tiptoed around for too long, and quite frankly, it's time that someone finally had the courage to confront this head-on.

Much has been made about the tea parties, disruptive town hall meetings, Fox News ranters and other fringenuts being harmless, or a small minority of the right, but what does it take or how much time should pass before this idiocy spreads and infects more of the disillusioned resulting in violence against our president? Politicians are played a dangerous game of poking at the cookoo's nest with a stick and claiming that the denizens are just frustrated average folk. Not to mention the unprecedented blatant disrespect for the office of the president? Nazi! Socialist! Take our country back! Bury Obamacare With Kennedy! These are just some of the things being shouted at so-called patriot rallies and town hall meetings. It's fucking frightening, and as I read and watch the daily barrage of insults and attacks against a president who is, ironically, trying to engage in a bi-partisan effort to ensure universal healthcare for all, I sometimes feel physically ill. Okay, I admit that the healthcare issue is a bit complex, and I want him to "call out" those who are smiling in his face while simultaneously slipping the shiv in his back - and yes, I'm aware that this is how the Republicans play the game, but I wish the president would take off the kid gloves and call Joe Wilson an asshole just as easily as he called Kanye West a jackass!

That said, I know that our president is an assured tactician, and I wholly believe that he knows how to get the job done. It's only been eight months and there's much to do. But backhands must be served when due! And it's only a matter of time before the right mobilizes the fringe and for however ridiculous their claims, there is a growing movement. A potentially deadly movement.

Need further proof? Then watch this clip. It is ignorance in full bloom.

To those who are tired of the so called race card being played, face it - race is, and will continue to be an issue. Racism and prejudice against blacks, Asians, Hispanics, and other cultures is so ingrained into our culture, history and collective minds that it will most likely never disappear. It appears in every aspect of life including entertainment, fashion, the media, the classroom and the boardroom. Most of us do our best to compartmentalize it or develop thick skins in order to continue going about our daily business. There is also racism by minorities against other minorities. And a lot of us have made or laughed at the occasion racist joke, "slipped" an occasional slur or hold on to certain streotypical beliefs that were implanted into our minds as youths, which are then passed along, generation to generation. Or perhaps we may even have some innate feelings and ideas about race which needs to be addressed. But keep it real, it ain't going away no time soon, so wherever you stand, we must continue to encourage open dialogue and debate. It's pure and simple.

GET UR SCUZZ ON - AMY WINEHOUSE WANTS YOUR BABY, GIRL

Today's Dopeness: Okay, I'm not taking this too seriously, and I gotta admit that while I haven't exactly been all that motivated enough to post stuff lately, (I've been aggressively job and apartment hunting) this item has somewhat restored my faith in all things twisted and the picture alone has succeeded in making me laugh my ass off, cry, and throw up in my damn mouth - simultaneously. And say what you will, but I give homebiscuit credit for doing her and not being the least bit apologetic for showing out, ya heard?

Amy Winehouse (there's only one, y'all!) allegedly wants her a black baby of her very own, but has supposedly run into some problems with her - oh, phuck it - just go directly to the source.

Of Race And Sex.................

I came across this one over at copyranter via Gawker. A German ad agency is promoting race-conscious clay dioramas in the spirit of awareness (KKKlay-doh! Get it?!), but I dunno. It sure seems like a Klansman is tryna woo a gay dude. Hmmm.... I smell a set-up. Discuss, if you must.

On Blaming Rihanna: Um, Teens, Ur Doing It Wrong

There are actually a couple things I want to rant about this week - the whole Rihanna/Chris Brown affair and, of course,  New York Post Page Six cartoonist (and I use that term loosely) Sean Delonas's umpteenth failure in attempting to produce an image which reflects even the most minute trace of class or wit. I mean come on, if you've ever had the misfortune of viewing any of this man's work, you'd already know that he's a borderline talent or hack, at best. I've always found his style to be exceedingly repulsive and demoralizing in such a way that I'd experience a momentary lack of faith in humanity - and that is no mean feat. After all, as I mentioned in my previous post, I do have a taste for the horrific! That said, I'm glad the dialogue has been opened, and let's keep this up front - whether or not you find the cartoon in question to be racist, and it is, let us not forget that it also ran the day after the victim of the chimp attack had her whole damn face torn off!!

And speaking of battered faces, I find some of the reactions to the Chris Brown/Rihanna mess to be equally, if not more demoralizing. After gleaning the comments sections of some the most popular black entertainment sites, I started to feel as if there is no fucking hope for the current generation of African Americans, as I've read some of the most frighteningly idiotic comments from mostly female posters, who expressed their contempt for a victim of domestic violence. From accusations of "provoking" the attack to exposing Chris to herpes led the reasoning for such ignorant statements, and I simply had to stop reading in fear of my head exploding in frustration. I even got into a heated discussion with a few young female relatives of mine, who defended the perpetrator, all the while lying down on the tracks before the speeding train of perpetual ignorance and exclaiming that they don't believe everything they hear in the media. Granted. But why do I get the uneasy feeling that this is mostly the perception of mostly black teenagers? And throw in few young adults please, while you're at it.

Can this be the result of a basic lack of education? Home training? Perhaps it's contempt for the light-skinned black female, while simultaneously placing the light-skinned "fine" black male on a pedestal? Or is it the R Kelly Effect all over again? Why does the male, no matter what hue, always get a pass? Is it because of all the past pain and suffering and alleged burdens the black man has to shoulder play into it? My guess is it's a combination of all of these. I also believe that the way we perceive and portray ourselves in modern media culture, especially in music and television (hello Vh1!), has a lot to do with this. Constantly, in music videos and so-called reality shows, black females are shown debasing themselves to the extreme, eschewing any hunger and need for higher learning, professional achievement and self respect, all for the pleasure and entertainment of the male antagonist, in the hopes of winning his approval. The same applies to the whites in terms of these shows which portrays these women to be shrill, slutty, manipulative and lacking any semblance of integrity or class. Worse, we watch incredulously as they spout their own vapid reasons for wanting to participate in this sideshow. What's going on, people? Is it only entertainment? Clearly, much of what passes as reality TV is scripted, but I sincerely doubt that a lot of young kids who watch these shows can discern or even care to acknowledge this fact.

So, what can we do? It's pure and simple. Educate, educate, educate. Each one teach one. Make your kids pick up a damn book. It is the responsibility of the parents, got that? That's where it starts. That is all.

By the way, the Chicago Tribute has published an interesting article which touches on teens and their views on violence in relationships and the Chris/Rihanna affair. Check it out here.

NYC Bigot Baker Sells Racist Cookies, Allegedly Threatens President

You know, sometimes it's the seemingly blissful ignorance of some racist assholes, whom I've been constantly advised to ignore, that really kick up my shit. And the sheer audacity of this one in particular drove me to hit the keys so hard, I think a few of them popped out of the board.

Ted Kefalinos, proprietor of the so-called trendy (It was featured on Sex and the City!)Lafayette French Pastry in Greenwich Village, has created a cookie called Drunken Negro Head honor of the President. Okay, now before I start to rip, let me first tell you a story which will explain my initial distrust of any Trendy Bakery That Was Featured On Sex And The City!

Several years back, a friend of mine insisted that I do them a big favor a trek down to Bleeker Street in The Village and stand on a ridiculuously long line at the Magnolia bakery and procure a few cupcakes which were supposed to be the shit because it existed at a Trendy Bakery That Was Featured On Sex In The City! So I wait on line for about an hour, and then jet downtown with the precious cargo of cupcakes secured in a cute white box, tied with a cute colorful ribbon.

Soon after I arrived at my friend's house, we opened the box, and there they were; the cupcakes that every trendoid north of WeHo had cancelled pap smears, dental appointments and cancer biopsy appointments for in order to stand in line. After what seemed like endless anticipation, we both reached into the box for a precious treat and lifted it to our mouths. I realized after taking a big bite that I had been punked. The shit was not only stale, it tasted like dry sugar bomb. I pictured a 3 year old who had been experimenting with a recipe that consisted of a 20 year old bag of flour, a five pound box of sugar, Play Doh and dot candy, and then shoved the mess into an Easy Bake Oven. And I still, to this day, want the money back that I wasted on a Metrocard.

So fuck trendy bakeries.

Okay now, back to Ted, The Racist Asshole Baker. Supposedly, he casually asked a customer if she would like a Drunken Negro head with her coffee. And that like Lincoln, President Obama will get what's coming to him. After being interviewed by Fox 5 NY's Arnold Diaz, Ted, The Racist Asshole Baker increduously insisted, at length, that he did nothing wrong. I guess you'll just have to see the newsclip to believe it.

When The System Works: Baby Named Hitler Is Taken From Parents

Recently, this story has been making the rounds, but it still confounds me that anybody would name their babies after members of the SS. Back in December, practicing white supremacists Heath and Deborah Campell made headlines when they became furious when a local Shop Rite bakery in Holland Township, New Jersey refused to write the name of their son, Adolf Hitler Campbell, 3, on a birthday cake. By the way, they also named two younger daughters, Honszlynn Hinler Jeannie, presumably after Heinrich Himmler, (they can hate, but they still can't spell, ha!) and JoyceLynn Aryan Nation Campbell.

Now comes word that children "were removed from their parents’ home Tuesday night by the New Jersey Division of Youth and Family Services," according to the local police chief.

Sigh. Discuss.

Will Smith Says America Is Not Racist

Actor Will Smith said that the election of Barack Obama has confirmed his belief that America is really not a racist country. Except for Hollywood. He hadn't wanted to say this, like before, so um, he like, waited. Here's his quote from Britian's Daily Mail which also includes his thoughts on Hollywood's reticience to allow to film love scenes with white women:

"It was as if some part of me was validated. It was something that I've known for a long time that I couldn't really say: 'You know guys, I really don't think America is a racist nation.' I know that I feel like that sometimes but I just don't believe that. There are racist people who live there but I don't think America as a whole is a racist nation. Before Obama won the presidency I wasn't allowed to say that out loud because people would say: 'Oh yeah, of course for you, Mr Hollywood!"

And as for the love scenes, is Hollyhood still nervous about interracial love?

"Definitely nervous. You spend millions on a movie and the studio wants to do everything they can to protect their investment. The idea of a black guy kissing a white girl on screen becomes huge news in the States. Outside the country it's no big deal but in the US it's still a big racial issue."

I'm sorry Will, but perhaps you got it backwards. The problem I have with your statements is that they sound las if they're coming from a person who lives in a bubble and is really out of touch with society. Especially with your own roots. As far as I know, interracial love scenes are not as big a deal for audiences nowadays. Perhaps it is for Hollywood, like you say. And although America is not a totally racist place, we still have some major issues going on in terms of race, Obama aside. Please read the papers. Think about what's happened in Long Island and Brooklyn NY with teens killing Mexican immigrants. Think about what happened in Oakland, California:

Oscar Grant Death: BART Officer Mehserle Arrested (VIDEO)

http://beezospureandsimple.blogspot.com/search/label/Race

I'll take into consideration that having a lot of money can tend to falsely buffer the sting of everyday realities. But please take into consideration the reality of those who do not have the luxury of affording high priced lawyers to defend themselves, black and white, and stay out of jail, like Ponzi schemer Bernie Madoff. And although America

Being a rich black man, God forbid you should find yourself on wrong end of the justice system, but then again, I'm t sure that you, like OJ Simpson, who's the best example of the irony of having money and ultimately getting fingered by The Fickle Finger Of Justice, by the way, and perhaps even R Kelly, will be able to literally buy enough time to avert the inevitable while most black folks have neither the luxury nor the resources to do so.

Please do keep that in mind. Thank You.

Outrage In Oakland Over BART Shooting

If you haven't heard yet, Oscar Grant, a 22-year old unarmed black man, was killed in what witnesses describe as an execution- style shooting on New Year's Day by a BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit) police officer who along with a group of his colleagues, were responding to reports of a 2 a.m. brawl involving a group of men at a train station in Fruitvale. The officer, Johannes Mehserle, 27, abruptly resigned after video of the shooting hit the airwaves and the internet prompting national attention. Days later, a group of 200 protesters, described by The San Francisco Chronicle as an angry mob, marched the streets of downtown Oakland smashing some store fronts and setting cars ablaze, resulting in 105 arrests. The gathering was in direct response to a long history of police brutality and their outrage over what is viewed as a racially motivated killing. But in doing so, a splinter group of demonstrators targeted black-owned businesses. In addition to a great post on the overall moving and meaningful vibe of the protest by Angel over at Concrete Loop, here's an excerpt from the SF Chronicle article I mentioned above:

The mob smashed the windows at Creative African Braids on 14th Street, and a woman walked out of the shop holding a baby in her arms.

"This is our business," shouted Leemu Topka, the black owner of the salon she started four years ago. "This is our shop. This is what you call a protest?"

Wednesday night's vandalism victims had nothing to do with the shooting death by a BART police officer of Oscar Grant on New Year's Day - but that did little to sway the mob.

"I feel like the night is going great," said Nia Sykes, 24, of San Francisco, one of the demonstrators. "I feel like Oakland should make some noise. This is how we need to fight back. It's for the murder of a black male."

Sykes, who is black, had little sympathy for the owner of Creative African Braids.

"She should be glad she just lost her business and not her life," Sykes said. She added that she did have one worry for the night: "I just hope nobody gets shot or killed."

Oakland Mayor and political legend Ron Dellums urged for calm. After joining and leading the crowd to City Hall, he then gave a speech, reiterating the need for a peaceful and rational display of civil disobedience:

"I sense your frustration," he told the crowd. "I understand that you've lost confidence in a process because you've seen what you believe is a homicide ... But listen to me, we are a community of people. We are civilized people. We are a nation of laws."
Dellums told protesters that he had asked the Oakland Police Department to investigate the shooting. "I have asked Oakland police to engage in a fair, parallel investigation, the way you'd investigate any homicide in Oakland," he said. "If that leads to an arrest, that's what it would lead to."

"I'm asking people to disperse," the mayor said to the couple hundred people in the crowd. "Let's leave in a spirit of peace."

Now I'm all for protesting against police brutality, especially in the East Bay (across the bay from San Francisco, where I've lived for 20 years), with its particularly troubling history of poverty and drug violence in some areas, including parts of Oakland and particularly Richmond, which went hand-in-hand with a police force with a history of brutality towards minorities. San Francisco, itself, has also had its share of problems as far as interaction betwen its police force and minority communities. But the problem I'm having with all of this is, while I agree with the protests, I also feel some disappointment in the protesters' misdirecting their anger as in this excerpt from the same article:

But soon after, a man shouted "that's the modern day lynching" and the mob quickly continued its rampage, smashing at least seven storefronts on 17th street between Franklin and Webster streets. They also smashed eight cars, including four belonging to the City of Oakland.

Near 14th and Alice streets, Myron Bell was taking dance lessons in "step," a form of dance popular among African Americans, when he looked out the window and saw people jumping on his Lexus sedan. Bell, 42, came out to find that almost all of the car's windows, including the front and back had been smashed and it appeared that someone had tried to set the car on fire."I'm for the cause," said Bell, who is black. "But I'm against the violence and destruction."

Nearby, Godhuli Bose stood near her smashed Toyota Corolla as a man walked by, repeatedly called her a misogynist slur and then added, "F- your car."
Bose, a high school teacher, said: "I can't afford this."

Which leads me to paraphrase Chris Rock's infamous rant about Black folks hating it when so-called n*ggers fuck shit up. Let's try and keep the focus here, people. Of course, there is always going be people who simply cannot control their righteous anger, and although it is in many cases justified, you must remember that the mainstream media is always going to focus on the violent aspects of our reactions. Especially what is deemed to be irrational violence.

The family of Mr. Grant has issued a statement through noted black attorney John Burris, who is reprensenting them in a $25 million claim against BART over his death. "This is a very Christian family that doesn't believe in fighting violence with violence," Burris said. "Oscar would not want that to happen in his name. Oscar was not that kind of person."

Yes, the shooting itself might appear to be an intentional act based on irrational fear, ignorance, or perhaps hate, and I'll try and hold off on passing any definitive judgement until I gather more facts, but in the meantime, let's listen to our leaders and get a grip. And no, I'm not saying we should suppress our outrage and not shout out our frustration against racial injustice from the rooftops. But to get it twisted and destroy the hard-earned rewards and efforts our own in the process is the height of stupidity, however small the percentage it is of those who do so.

You do know how the media do, right?

Here's the video of the shooting

Peace.

RNC Candidate Pushes Racist Obama Song Parody

Republican National Congress candidate Chip Saltsman sent out a Christmas Christmas CD which included a song called “Barack the Magic Negro,” first played on the Rush Limbaugh radio show.

According to an article in The Hill Saltsman, sent the CD along with a note to national committee members, which read, “I look forward to working together in the New Year.” “Please enjoy the enclosed CD by my friend Paul Shanklin of the Rush Limbaugh Show.

The song has been around for awhile. It was first played on fellow weighty Republican Limbaugh’s show in March 2007 and allegedly originated from an opinion column in the Los Angeles Times, written by David Ehrenstein, which implied that Obama's success is the result of white guilt. It is sung from the perspective and mock voice of Al Sharpton and includes the lyric, “See, real black men, like Snoop Dogg, or me, or Farrakhan, have talked the talk, and walked the walk, not come in late and won.”

Saltsman issued the statement, “Paul Shanklin (the soung's writer/parodist) is a long-time friend, and I think that RNC members have the good humor and good sense to recognize that his songs for the Rush Limbaugh show are light-hearted political parodies.”

First off, have you ever heard of a funny Republican politician? They're mostly nasty, humorless people who apply to the most base sense of so-called humor with a total absence of subtlety, nuance or wit. As for the supposed parody itself, while incorporating all these qualities, it's blatantly racist and just plain not funny . And I could appreciate even the most offensive material. If it's funny. Also, with all the problems the Replicacan party is experiencing, including an outgoing lame duck president, the major loss of Senate seats and the undertaking of a massive overhaul of their image and message, could it be that they're just hopelessly clueless?

EPIC FAIL.

Here's the proof:

Do a Clueless Republican a favor today, and give them a rigorous shake and a slap. They'll thank you for it later.

California Gays Get It Twisted

Okay, it's time for some righteous indignation. It seems that a large portion of California's white gay community is pointing their fingers directly at the Black community for the failure to defeat Proposition 8 to the point of threatening bodily harm and shouting the n-word. Interesting. Now before I tear a new one, let's look at one simple fact first. According to the California Census of 2006, African Americans made up for only 6.7% of California's total population. Let's assume that say, a percentage of that is made up of underage citizens, and dare I say, people in prison. Get my point? Blogger Rod McCullom at Rod 2.0 goes into more depth on the matter.

I've always had a bone to pick with white gays who are always eager to equate the Gay Rights Movement's struggles with those of the Civil Rights Movement. I believe that this is fundamentally wrong for obvious reasons. One is that both movements do, and have indeed fought for civil rights, and have heroes who have fought for us and who have, in some instances, made the ultimate sacrifices in order to be heard. The second is that race and sexuality are two very different identifiers, though. They are both states of being, but one has the decision and ability to repress and downplay one's sexuality. Not so with race. You can't cover your skin before you walk into a job interview, apply for housing, or even catch a cab. That said, white gays are able to enjoy all of the advantages of the majority in this society, in terms of income levels, housing and jobs, whereas blacks cannot. It's just that simple. And just as blacks could be accused of homophobia and in some instances, racism, so can the white gay community.

Take a look at a typical gay white enclave in any major city. Tell me what you see. Most likely you'll see an affluent strip or neighborhood filled with cafes, restaurants, lounges and clubs and gyms which cater to mostly white patrons. Not that people of color are not welcome, well, sort of. But there is definitely a difference between NY's Chelsea and the black and Latino communties of Upper Manhattan and the outer boroughs of New York City, for instance. While the minority community does include people who enjoy a certian level of economic success, and there are definitely areas where whites are not particularly welcomed, but that would most likely pertain the diversity of the areas as whole - and not a specific gay area. I believe that the main distinction between the two is privilege and access to education and means. And I wonder how many trust fund babies were present at those protests? Yes, we could all make it if we try, but even with our new President, things are not going to change right away for some of us. Though we can expect some change, it won't happen overnight, and the same people with the same attitudes, political positions and cultural perceptions will still be responsible and in charge of our police departments, corporations, prisons, real estate rental offices, etc. The same can also be said about gay marriage. The vast majority of this country is comprised of caucasians with strong religious values, no? Who are you really fighting against? Yourselves? Please choose your adversaries wisely.

Look, I'm all for the inclusion of all cultures into the fabric that makes up our society at large. That means equal rights for African Americans, gays, lesbians, bisexuals, transgenders, and the rights of dogs, cats, bunnies and gophers for that matter, but please stop it with the racist and homophobic bullshit against other cultures while claiming to want the same respect and rights for your own. It's counterproductive, to say the least.

And take a good look in the morror, while you're at it.
