FRIDAY NIGHT CHILL ZONE: FEELING YOU - OMAR featuring STEVIE WONDER

NEW MUSIC FROM MAXWELL

Following an eight year absence, Brooklyn's Own Maxwell returns to the airwaves with Pretty Wings, the first single from what he calls a 3-year concept album titled Black Summer's Night. Black, set for a July 7, 2009 release, will be followed by Summer's in 2010, and Night, which will hit the streets in 2011. There have been several false fits and starts regarding the release of this project, including rumors that CBS Records threatened to drop him from the label (pure bullshit, btw), so it's great to finally hear back from the boy. I'm hoping that he's still collaborating with people like legendary soul singer/writer/producer Leon Ware (Marvin Gaye, Omar) and backing band Sweetback, which itself is a side project consisting of members from Sade.

The R&B scene is in desperate need of substantive fare nowadays, so this should definitely sate the appetites of those of us who are feenin' for something stronger than autotune to lean on.

Good god.

Now where the hell is my boy D'Angelo at?

Beezo's Tryna Get It Together:

Beezo Blue is a work in progress, and lately, I haven't had as much time as I'd like to devote to BB, so posts here will be a little sparse for the next month or so. That will change, of course, and I will try and get in a few posts about anything earth-shaking, and if I have an emergency rant, you'll hear about it.

In the meantime, I'll post as much new & Throwback joints as I can. Also, in the coming months I'll be updating the look of this blog as well as adding some exclusive music including more Hip Hop, House and new R&B and movie interviews and general news items.

Please bear with me though, and check in every other day or so. Until then, enjoy a few songs I can't get out of my head at the moment:

Scarface - My Block

J Dilla - Life Goes On

Dj Jazzy Jeff & Big Daddy Kane - The Garden

Omar - Syleste

Real Soul Music For Your Sanity: Merry Christmas Part Two

It's good to know that in the age of Autotune, there's still good music worthy enough to be called SOUL. Here are some artists that I've been following for the past 5 years or so who lay can it down.

Ledisi - Give Love On This Christmas Day 2008

Conya Doss - What I'd Do For You 2008

Liv Warfield - I Decided 2007

Liv Warfield - Groove DJ 2007

But this NOW! Embrace Me @ CD Baby

Vikter Duplaix - I Got You 2003

Fertile Ground - You 2005

Vikter Duplaix - Make A Baby 2007

Dennis Taylor - Want 2002

Cynthia Laine - Feel Me 2008

Rahsaan Patterson - Feels Good 2007

Jimmy Salvemini - Love Won't Let Me Wait (LIVE) 2006

You might remember Jimmy from 1984, the year Luther Vandross discovered him at 15 on Star Search and produced his album soon after. I remember buying the album after the controversial car accident in which Jimmy's brother was killed. Luther was driving and Jimmy was also in the car. Check out his new 2008 release, Self Expression at CD Baby.

Galliano feat. Omar - Golden Flower 1992

British soul saviour Omar has been on my radar for years. Here's a 1992 joint followed by a more recent release.

Omar feat Angie Stone - Be Thankful 2002

Platinum Pied Pipers - 50 Ways To Leave Your Lover 2005
