TYLER PERRY'S FOR COLORED GIRLS ONE-SHEETS RELEASED

It looks like Tyler Perry has yet another winner on his hands. His upcoming For Colored Girls, which is based on the acclaimed Broadway 70's play For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When the Rainbow Is Enuf, is sure to be hit across the board, and should hopefully add some much-needed color to the Oscar nominee lists next year.

Damn, I can't wait!

Family Fued: Beyonce Calls Out The Jackson Clan

I wasn't going to post anything today, feeling the Monday blues and all, but then I came across an item in which Beyonce allegedly made statements about the Jackson clan, calling them lower class. Granted, the original source of the statements is The National Enquirer, attributed to another unnnamed "source", and full disclosure, I got it from You Didn't Here It From Me. It still makes for compelling gossip, if you go for the kind of thing, and I know your ass does, too!
Apparently, Miss Jackson, would like to get all nasty and put a ring around the Bey's neck for comparing their upbringings. Here's what I got from YDHTFM:
"The former Destiny's Child singer said in a recent interview, "I grew up upper class. Private school. My dad had a Jaguar. We're African-American and we work together as a family, so people assume we're like The Jacksons."
But I didn't have parents using me to get out of a bad situation."
Knowles' comments were not welcome - and Janet now plans to confront her R&B rival. A source tells the National Enquirer magazine, "Beyonce's remark came out of left field and really stung Janet. She blew up."
Yes, Janet and the Jackson family came from Gary, Indiana, and there was a time they barely squeaked by. But Janet has many loving memories and is incensed that Beyonce would make a crack like that."
Janet wanted to know why Beyonce had to mention her family. They're not friends and barely know each other. She feels Beyonce went out of her way to tell the world she's from the upper class and the Jacksons were like a bunch of dirty gutter rats."
Janet is proud of her family and how they came from nothing and became superstars."Not only is Janet telling everyone who will listen that Beyonce has a lot of growing up to do and that she needs to stop trying to impress everyone, she's planning to confront Beyonce herself and read her the riot act."
I won't even bet on who wins this one. Y'all know where my loyalties lie, don't you?

Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis Reunite with The Time

Legendary producers Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis have announced a reunion album with The Time which will include all former members including Morris Day, Jerome Benton, Jellybean Johnson, Monte Moir and Jesse Johnson. This is great news for me, being such a throwback fiend and all. According to Eurweb, the project came to fruition after an appearance on last year's Grammys followed by a successful stint in Vegas. They are said to be putting the finishing touches on the cd. Jam & Lewis also discussed a potential reunion with their former musical muse Janet Jackson:
“I think she’s anxious to do some work. And [The Time] is back together because we want to be together, not because we need to be together,” he said. “If we collaborate with Janet again, and by the way, I never thought that we wouldn’t collaborate again. Just because you work with another producer or decide to go the other way, that that closes the door of the possibility. We want to work with her and I think she wants to work with us and if that all happens, then that’s what we’re going to do.”
It would be great to see JJ return to the top of the chart heap for a minute. And might this also include some collaboration from The Time co-producer and creator Jamie Starr? One can only hope. As for myself, I'm gonna slap on my 'phones and trip back with some throwbacks of some of their best production works like, You Used To Hold Me So Tight, The Finest, Fishnet, If It Isn't Love, The Pleasure Principle, Tender Love, Fake, Saturday Love, I Didn't Mean To You On and I Wish I Wasn't, to name a few.
